Administrative & Communication Internship
Our Administrative Internship program offers paid positions with Illini Hillel Cohen Center for Jewish Life which provide experience and training in professional skills to help the interns qualify for future employment.

Administrative Internship Positions include:
Cafe Sababa is a kosher restaurant inside the Cohen Center open Monday - Thursday from 11:30 - 1:30 p.m. Interns will input Café Sababa sales into the system, communicate with caterer for promotion of regular and special menus, seek student feedback on menu items, and work regular Café Sababa cashier shifts. This intern is expected to work at least one weekly shift as a Café Sababa cashier. This intern should have an interest in both communications and data input, as they will work with the Program Director to promote Cafe Sababa, and with the Office Manager to track weekly Cafe Sababa sales.
Interns will assist the Communications Director with a wide variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to running Hillel's social media presence, event promotion, composing emails to students, parent and alumni communication, and updating and maintaining the Hillel website. We are looking to hire 4-5 interns for a communications role, including social media, campus communications, public relations, external promotions and graphic design.
This intern will assist our Engagement Director with inputting student names into REACH, Hillel’s student database, and running and analyzing reports. This intern will update lists of UIUC students on Facebook and Google. This intern should be comfortable with Microsoft Excel, and able to understand data analytics, or willing to learn quickly.
This intern will assist the Executive Director with fundraising projects including Jewish holiday cards, Giving Tuesday Campaign, Phone-a-thon and more. This intern needs to be innovative and self-motivated and be able to work independently.
Donor Database Management
This intern will assist the Executive Director with management and analysis of our donor database system. This includes recording donations, doing donor research, creating donor reports and developing innovative ideas of segmenting and analyzing donor behavior. This intern will work closely with the Executive Director on these projects. Experience with databases is recommended. The intern needs to be thorough and know how to follow systematic guidelines.
This intern will work with online payment systems to track purchases made for Hillel programs and meals. This intern will create weekly reports detailing how much net income has been generated through Cafe Sababa, holiday meals, and program fees. This intern should be familiar with or comfortable learning about Paypal and Stripe to generate frequent reports.
Grants and Development Interns
This intern will assist the Executive Director and other staff members with researching, applying and reporting to different grants. Good writing skills are important for this role. They will also assist Executive Director with fundraising projects including Jewish holiday cards, Giving Tuesday Campaign, Phone-a-thon and more. This intern needs to be innovative and self-motivated and be able to work independently.
This intern will assist the Office Manager in daily and weekly office tasks, such as ordering office supplies, restocking the supply cabinets and Cafe Sababa, building maintenance and signage, and monthly expense reports. This intern will also assist the Program Director and Office Manager with intern communications such as keeping track of substitutes, hours, and communicating Hillel all-leadership responsibilities to the rest of the internship team.
This intern will compose and maintain class lists, adding to the list when students or staff learn of new incoming or currently enrolled Jewish students. Research and reach out to synagogues and Jewish youth groups with large numbers of prospective students, and connect them with Engagement Director and interns. Input incoming or prospective student information into a student database. This student should feel comfortable reaching out to external organizations across the spectrum of Jewish practice.
In addition to these specific roles, Administrative Interns will also work at the front desk, where they will assist in welcoming people to the building, as well as regular responsibilities such as opening and closing the building, directing visitors to the appropriate areas of the building for programming or other purposes, answering the telephone, recording payments at the front desk, giving tours of the building, making coffee, and assisting students and staff with projects.
