Nearly 50 students visited Israel with Hillel and Shorashim on the JUF birthright israel Chicago Community Trip.  Travelling from Tel Aviv, to Jersualem up to Kiryat Shmoneh and down to Mizpe Ramon, students had the opportunity to interact with Israel in so many wonderful ways!

Hillel/JCRC Israel Initiative

Much of the Israel-related programming that happens on campus occurs through the resources of the Hillel/JCRC Israel Initiative.

As a result of the resources provided through this initiative, Hillel is able to ensure a strong component of Israel programming as well as cultural and political advocacy training and opportunities.

Here are just a few examples of how the University of Illinois has benefitted from the initiative:

  • Funding for 2 Israel Advocacy Interns;
  • Funding of our Israel Fellow in partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel and Taglit: birthright israel
  • Co-sponsoring numerous speakers' visit to campus
  • Co-sponsoring The Idan Reichel Project and Hadag Nachash (popular Israeli music acts) with Hillel and The Israeli Consulate
  • Dead Sea Spa Nights in Jewish sorority houses
  • Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration on the Quad
  • Israeli Film Series (both in Hillel and on campus)
  • and much much more!!
