I broke upwards of four pumpkin carving tools that evening, but I learned that Hillel could have something to offer me, so I went to Shabbat that Friday. And then I went the next Friday. And the next Friday, and the next, and the next, with an increasing number of Bagel Brunches and Big Ten Shabbatons and other events sprinkled in between. And bam! just like that, I became an Engagement Intern at Illini Hillel.
Something must have happened to make me stay, right? I don't think it was witchcraft that convinced me to come back (but I'm not sure). The consistently outgoing attitudes of Hillel leadership and the entire Hillel community brought me back. I know that when I come here I'll be greeted by ten people, hugged by five, and kissed by at least one. I know that when I come here I can get work done. I know that when I come here I can always find someone to talk to and relate to. I encourage you to come by and find YOUR reason to keep coming back.
Have a great week and Shabbat Shalom,
