I always get sick around this time of year. Not only is the season changing from Summer to Fall and my body gets confused, but courses get more difficult and I neglect my sleep. A lot of us students just had exams or will have an exam soon. Where did these midterms come from? Didn’t we just start classes a few weeks ago? It’s important to remember to take care of ourselves. There is always going to be the guilt that some task or assignment isn’t done, but sleeping and other healthy habits are more important. Losing sleep and being stressed weakens your immune system, making your body actually force you to stop what you are doing and slow down. I am definitely guilty of wanting to do everything and thinking I can handle a lot of difficult coursework, a job, and multiple other commitments. I want to hang out with my friends, and I definitely have a classic college fear of missing out. However, my goal is to take more time for myself and I invite you all to do the same. Create your own goals and stick to them. At Hillel, we're all there for each other and want to see each other be successful. The staff is always there to listen to you and nurturing free food is abundant. You are allowed to struggle, but just make sure to take care of yourself.
