In college, we are swept into an overwhelming atmosphere. With so much to do, see, learn, and appreciate in such a short amount of time, we often forget to take the time to look in the mirror and look back at ourselves. Our images reflect our history, our ideologies, our weaknesses, and our achievements. While it is important to develop and be the best versions of ourselves in the large, daunting world, I have always felt that it is more essential to represent our values and our unique perspective in order to seek out personal success and fulfillment. The ability to love oneself is perhaps one of the most crucial steps in exercising the full extent of life. Accepting ourselves exactly as we are allows us to exercise our strengths for the betterment of the community and to seek help or advice where we know we may struggle. To reach for the power of love in our world is a challenging task, but a worthy one. Love and purpose can only be honestly accepted once we can look in the mirror proud and inspired.
