As snow begins to fall on the streets of Champaign-Urbana, footsteps begin to form from the hustle and bustle of students making there way back on campus. After five long weeks of binge watching Netflix or traveling to see your grandparents in Florida, it’s finally time to reunite with your friends, professors and textbooks. For some, you just experienced your first break from college. As for others, you maybe be saying goodbye to your breaks as you come into your final semester. No matter where you are in your college career, we all are experiencing the feelings that come with the new semester. I am currently entering the second semester of my Junior year and its a bittersweet experience. I see some friends beginning to take internships, or job searching for after graduation, while others are declaring their majors or taking leadership positions on campus. All of the people in my network are moving forward. Which is also what I see Illini Hillel doing in the next year. I have witnessed Hillel evolve over the past two and a half years through many different avenues. Whether it’s fresh faces coming through the new accessible doors, an innovative program designed by a new leader or Cafe Sababa making an alteration to their menu, change is always occurring and it’s allowed. While many people struggle with the ability to accept changes that occur in their lives, I believe we should embrace them and not take them for granted. As we head into the 2016 Spring semester, I plan on supporting these changes and encouraging everyone to be a part of making them happen. There is so much we can accomplish in this next 346 days and I believe we should all be apart of that journey.
