It feels like yesterday I was walking around the tables and trying to decide whether to get involved with Challah for Hunger , Tikkun Chambana or Humans Vs Zombies. The number of opportunities to get involved with things on campus is enormous and can be overwhelming. And indeed, soon enough I could feel my orange Hillel tote bag getting heavy with flyers, pens and other free stuff. Coming home after the annual Hillel Welcome BBQ I put the bag in the corner and forgot about it.
But this morning I realized that it hasn't been a week since quad day yet and it is not too late to get involved. Following Hillel, The Sage's question "If not now, when?", I sent out a couple of emails to students and staff of organizations I would like to know more about.
Getting involved is sometimes that easy. Just take the first step and contact someone.
So whether you are a freshman who wants to get to know campus better, or a senior trying to make the best of the rest of your time at U of I, it is not too late to get involved. Find an issue you care about or want to know more about and try it out. I know I'm going to!
