However, the randomness of life is a beautiful thing too. In the past year alone, I have made the best friends I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t be happier to have them. None of us came to college already knowing each other. We all have different life stories, come from different states, even different countries. It was never predetermined that we were going to meet. It was never predetermined that we were going to have so many heart to heart conversations, or that they were going to walk all the way across campus at four in the morning to come get me when I was having a bad night, or that we were going to have days where we never left each other’s sides. It just happened. And that’s completely random. And that’s beautiful.
From a statistical standpoint, every single one of the 7,438,523,236 people in the world has a chance of something happening to them every single day. Yes, it’s a small chance. But sometimes, all you need is something small. You never know what life is going to throw at you. I think there are too many pessimists in the world who are going to read that sentence negatively. I’m not denying that bad things don’t happen in life, but I honestly believe that the good outweighs the bad.
Every single day is completely random. There will be days where you’ll feel like you don’t belong, where you won’t be having the best relationships with the people you love, where you could come across some very scary news. Days that you’ll feel like it’s the worst day of your life. But there will also be days where you’ll feel like you’ve found your home, where you couldn’t be happier with the people in your life, where you’ll fall in love, where you could come across some beautiful news. Days that you’ll feel like it’s the best day of your life.
If you give up on today, you’ll never get to see tomorrow. And that’s what motivates me.
