In Va’etchanan, Moses breaks the news to the Israelites that he will not be headed into Israel with them. He will only be able to see it. The rest of his people will be able to enter, though, so he finishes his review of the Torah. He reminds them of the Ten Commandments, the Shema, and of the Exodus from Egypt. Students should go into a new school year with the same reminder as the Israelites. To remember their values and roots. Why they’re learning and why going to school is not a bad thing. You have to work hard for it (like 40 years in a desert hard), but in the end, it’s worth it.
