- Dr. Seuss
I feel that this quote is extremely important as learners in a continuously evolving world. Often as students in higher education, we become fenced in our around our studies and social environments. We fall into a routine in which we are always thinking of our ‘plan’ or where we are going from here. We grow so excited about living independent, productive lives that we lose focus of other integral ingredients to the human experience. The ability to use our imagination and consider ideas abstractly is a necessary quality for appreciating life. I encourage people to not take the agenda of being a student too seriously. Take advantage of opportunities to be silly and to live in the moment. Take a risk! Be spontaneous! Act on your unique quirks! Illini Hillel is just one of many environments where this idea is consistently encouraged. By facilitating unique events and prioritizing the power of personal relationships, Hillel pushes all individuals to express themselves and have a lust for life.
